2012

Canon Life Sciences tapped ECCO Design to help develop a fresh user experience to match Canonā€™s radically innovative take on PCR genetic diagnosis technology.

Process

In the product development process, my bioengineering experience was invaluable in bringing the design team up to speed with a full working understanding of the Polymerase Chain Reaction methodology - its objectives and limitations, as well as the lab environment. We conducted fact-finding missions to hospitals and laboratories across the USA, to understand the process through the eyes of diverse stakeholders, a strategy which revealed significant design opportunities.

Deliverables

ECCO Design  delivered one-of-a-kind UX concepts to Canon. Our wireframes incorporated clear infographic expression of complex data, a consistent architecture of menus, data annotation tools, and unprecedented flexibility in managing workflows. These feature concepts were executed a seemingly simple interface, while supporting the most complex thinking and functional ordering.
